10th Anniversary Illustrated Special Edition Hardcover of The Accidental Alchemist

BOOK 1 OF THE ACCIDENTAL ALCHEMIST™ MYSTERIES

Book cover: 10th Anniversary Illustrated Special Edition THE ACCIDENTAL ALCHEMIST by Gigi Pandian - woodcut artwork showing an alchemist and gargoyle reading a book in a cozy kitchen surrounded by alchemical imagery

It’s a special edition to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of The Accidental Alchemist!

The book where the Accidental Alchemist Mysteries began has never before been published in hardcover, so to celebrate this milestone, a beautiful special edition with original artwork and two additional recipes is now available. The text of the novel itself is identical to the original, but it’s now accompanied by a new cover as well as new artwork inside the book.

Artist Martin Tomsky created a woodcut relief illustration used for the cover and chapter headers, and artist Sue Parman (aka my talented artist mom!) created seven original character illustrations seen throughout the book.

A chance for a new beginning in Portland, Oregon. A stowaway from Paris who's slowly turning to stone. Can alchemist Zoe Faust unravel the secrets of an ancient book in time to save her new friend?

A letter from Gigi

The Accidental Alchemist is a very personal book to me, and also a celebration. I began writing it while I was going through chemotherapy for an aggressive breast cancer I was diagnosed with right after my 36th birthday. It took another two years for me to wrangle it into shape, and The Accidental Alchemist was published ten years ago, in 2015. Yes, it’s been a whole decade!

One of my takeaways from cancer was the reminder to live life to the fullest. To me, that includes appreciating the people in my life, following my curiosity, writing the books of my heart, not worrying about things beyond my control, and taking time to celebrate milestones. This year, that means properly celebrating the 10 year anniversary of The Accidental Alchemist!

The book had never before been published in hardcover, only paperback, so I decided to create a beautiful special edition with original artwork for both the cover and interior, and also add additional recipes. The text of the novel itself is identical to the original, but I hope you’ll appreciate the artwork created specifically for the 10th anniversary special edition.

Here’s a sample of a few of the pieces of art you’ll see inside the new edition.
